Tasting Room Changes

If you follow us on Facebook you've seen some of the projects going on in and around our tasting room. Not only have we added new photographs to the walls of the tasting room (including a great little series of pictures detailing the cycle of a cluster of grapes on the vine), but we've also had the chance to work with two great landscapers, Andy and Calina, who have transformed our courtyard into a drought-resistant, native plant paradise. Next time you visit the tasting room in Dundee be sure to take a walk to the courtyard to see their great work.

Cheers!

Harvest Time 2015

Harvest has been in full swing for the past week! Crush started off with a bang and our harvest crew has hardly stopped moving with the hustle and bustle of new grapes, and new wines. We've brought in a number of vineyards including Winkler, the star of our Yamhill-Carlton AVA Blend and the beloved Nysa Vineyard and Viognier for a late harvest. On Tuesday, we brought in Alloro Vineyard which tasted incredible. We can't wait to share these wines with you once they're completed!

Since it's still the beginning of harvest, the winery has focused mainly on bringing in grapes, sorting them, destemming them, and putting them in fermenters. The harvest crew does punch downs a few times a day to keep things moving.

Below are some pictures of harvest so far and of our hardworking harvest crew.

We also have a few exciting new things coming for the 2015 vintage. Keep your eyes to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and this blog for the up-to-date info!

Cheers!

Bottling and A Surprise!

There has been quite a bit of newness in the works here at Torii Mor. In the midst of bottling and the beginnings of harvest and crush, we’ve been working on a surprise…

Brand New Labels!

Starting with our Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, you’ll start seeing this label refresh on store shelves, and in your club shipments on your new 2014 wines. And be sure to keep an eye out for a brand new Winemaker’s Reserve line of wines. The Winemaker’s Reserve wines will be our winemaker Jacques’s special wines, and those will start with the 2013 vintage.

We spent the week bottling and labeling our 2013 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Here are a few pictures of the experience.

First the bottles get dumped onto the conveyor belt, where they get funneled into a big wheel that pumps the bottles full of nitrogen, pushes the oxygen out and clears them of dust. They then get spun and filled with wine and continue on their conveyor belt journey. As they pass along, the bottles get caps placed on them, which then get punched down to give them their screw-cap functionality. They once again get funneled onto another conveyor belt where they are placed into boxes and stored on pallets until they get shipped out or moved to our tasting rooms for sale.

We’ll keep you posted as to when this newly labeled Pinot Noir hits the shelves.

Cheers!
