The spring was colder and wetter than average, even though January to March had started out much warmer and dryer than normal. April through June was exceptionally cold and wet and peppered with hailstorms resulting in some damage. By early July, the temperature rose to almost normal for a cool and relatively dry summer. The clusters were small with some shot-berries (millerandage). Harvest was October 16th through 30th. Botrytis wasn’t the only issue; birds and their damage pushed the hands of winemakers and growers.
